FM: Iran prepared for any regional developments
Iran is prepared for any eventuality in the region, including the possibility of renewed conflict with Israel, the country’s foreign minister has said.
Abbas Araghchi made the remarks in an interview with Asharq Al Awsat, noting that while armed confrontation could occur, Tehran is ready to respond to any scenario.
“All possibilities exist, but we are prepared for any circumstances. During the 12-day war, the Zionist entity and the United States failed to achieve any of their objectives, while Iran heroically resisted and responded to the aggression,” Araghchi said, addressing questions regarding the prospects of renewed confrontation between Iran and Israel.
On August 20, Iran reaffirmed its readiness to respond to potential Israeli aggression, announcing the development of missiles with capabilities surpassing those used during the 12-day conflict with Israel in June.
Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said that the missiles deployed in the June hostilities were produced several years ago, while Tehran now possesses “far greater capabilities” in its arsenal. He warned that any renewed Israeli attacks would be met with these advanced weapons.
The warning follows a mid-June Israeli bombing campaign that targeted Iranian military sites, nuclear facilities, and residential areas, resulting in the deaths of senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and hundreds of others.
Iran responded with missile and drone strikes, escalating the conflict. The announcement underscores Tehran’s determination to bolster its military deterrence and signals a heightened risk of escalation in the region if hostilities resume.
