FM: Iran promises serious probe into drone incident targeting Azerbaijan

Iran has promised to conduct a serious investigation into an incident involving drones launched toward Azerbaijani territory, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists.

He added that Azerbaijan reacted promptly to the incident and immediately initiated contacts with the Iranian side, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“There were numerous contacts with the Iranian side. There was a phone call between the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the President of Azerbaijan. I also had a phone conversation with the Iranian foreign minister. 

The position of the Iranian side is that these drones were not launched from Iranian territory and that this is a provocation by third countries. They promised Azerbaijan to carry out a serious investigation into this issue. At this stage, the situation is as follows,” the foreign minister noted.
