FM: Remembering Khojaly victims evokes liberation of Azerbaijani lands
Remembering the victims of the Khojaly tragedy also recalls the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated.
Speaking at the Ana Harayı (Mother’s Cry) memorial in Baku on the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, Bayramov noted that the Khojaly tragedy had the most devastating consequences for Azerbaijan, also highlighting that similar mass killings were carried out by Armenians in other Azerbaijani settlements, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He stated that for the past five years, Azerbaijan has honored Khojaly victims while marking the restoration of its ancestral lands.
“Today’s reality is that life is returning to Karabakh. Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Life is coming back to Karabakh, with large-scale reconstruction and development projects underway,” the foreign minister emphasised.
Bayramov also stated that he does not have information on whether Armenia has been invited to the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will take place in Baku from May 17–22, 2026. He reminded that WUF13 is being organised by Azerbaijan in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
“Certainly, the event has its own format, and invitations are issued accordingly. For the first time, a Leaders’ Summit will be held as part of the forum. Of course, not all world leaders will participate — only countries requiring support in urbanisation issues are invited. I do not have information on whether Armenia has been invited,” the Foreign Minister noted.
