Foreign diplomats witness Azerbaijan’s rapid infrastructure development in liberated regions—official
Foreign diplomats recently visited Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, marking the 20th official trip of the diplomatic corps to the regions, including Karabakh and East Zangazur, said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
During the visit, the diplomats observed ongoing restoration and construction projects, as well as the resettlement of former internally displaced persons returning to their native areas and the broader revitalization of local communities, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Hajiyev noted that the delegation toured reconstruction initiatives in Jabrayil and Zangilan districts.
“In addition, the diplomatic corps reviewed work on the Azerbaijani section of the Zangazur Corridor and attended a briefing. This visit holds significant importance for the positions of the diplomatic corps and the countries they represent,” he said.
Hajiyev further emphasized that since 2021, Azerbaijan has undertaken intensive infrastructure development along the corridor from Horadiz to Zangilan using domestic resources.
“Railway and highway infrastructure, including tunnels, is being constructed at a rapid pace. On another segment, Armenia is implementing similar projects on a bilateral basis with the United States. We continue to monitor these developments. Furthermore, the involvement of international partners is being considered for the construction of over 188 kilometres of railway infrastructure in the Nakhchivan section,” the presidential aide added.
