As part of the annual activity plan approved by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, a group of military attachés from various foreign embassies accredited in Azerbaijan conducted an official visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The delegation consisted of 35 representatives from the defence attaché offices of 19 different countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

The visit began with a ceremonial stop at the central square of Nakhchivan city, where the attachés laid tribute at the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. They then toured the Heydar Aliyev Museum, where they explored exhibits documenting the statesman’s life and contributions to Azerbaijan’s development.

During their stay, the attachés visited the headquarters of the Separate Combined Arms Army. There, they were welcomed by Major General Kanan Seyidov, the army’s commander. In a detailed briefing, Seyidov presented the history of the army’s establishment, its evolution, current operations, structural reforms, and future strategic objectives. In accordance with protocol, the delegation also inscribed a message in the “Book of Honorary Guests.”

The military representatives continued their visit to the Training and Instruction Centre of the Separate Combined Arms Army, where they examined various educational facilities, including modern classrooms, a simulation centre, and a physical training hall.

Further stops included the Nakhchivan Military College and the Heydar Aliyev Military Lyceum. At both institutions, the attachés received presentations on the latest reforms in military education, the structure of Azerbaijan’s specialised training systems, and the scope of academic and scientific initiatives underway.

The visit also featured a tour of the Nakhchivan Military Rehabilitation and Production Complex, showcasing the region’s growing military-industrial capabilities.

To conclude the trip, the Ministry of Defence organised an excursion to several historic and cultural landmarks in Nakhchivan, giving the foreign guests a broader understanding of the region’s heritage and significance.
