Foreign Ministry confirms no Azerbaijani casualties in Myanmar, Thailand earthquake
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has confirmed that no Azerbaijani citizens were among the casualties of the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar and was also felt in Thailand on March 28, 2025.
In a statement made on March 29, Ministry spokesperson Ayhan Gadzizade responded to an inquiry from local media, stating, "We have not received any information regarding casualties among Azerbaijani citizens."
The earthquake, which registered magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4, caused widespread devastation in Myanmar, with tremors felt in neighboring Thailand. The seismic event has led to significant loss of life, with the latest reports confirming over 1,000 fatalities in Myanmar and at least 10 deaths in Thailand.
As of the latest updates, the death toll in Myanmar has reached 1,007, with 2,389 individuals reported injured. In Thailand, the earthquake claimed the lives of 10 people, while 16 others sustained injuries.
