Foreign nationals continue evacuating Iran through Azerbaijan PHOTO
As tensions persist in Iran, another group of foreign nationals — including citizens of Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, and Vietnam — has been evacuated through Azerbaijan.
The evacuees comprise diplomatic personnel, their family members, and individuals employed in various sectors across Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort to facilitate the safe departure of foreigners from Iranian territory.
Over the past five days, Azerbaijan has seen the transit of citizens from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, as well as individuals from the United States, Spain, Portugal, Finland, and the Philippines. All were evacuated through the Astara border checkpoint in southern Azerbaijan.
Among the most sizable groups were Russian artists who had spent the past month in Iran working on a film project. Their evacuation marks one of the largest coordinated efforts in recent days.
Also among those evacuated on June 16 evening was Tahir Sepahi, an Italian citizen and carpet expert originally from Ardebil province in South Azerbaijan, Iran. Sepahi, who now lives in Italy, arrived in Azerbaijan accompanied by his family.
The evacuation operation continued through the night, with foreign nationals being transported by bus to the airport for further repatriation to their respective home countries.
