Forgery revealed in videos alleging mistreatment of Armenians corpses by Azerbaijani soldiers
Several videos portraying the mistreatment of the dead bodies of Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani servicemen during the hostilities are being shared on mass media outlets and social media platforms. The Offices of the Prosecutor General and Military Prosecutor of Azerbaijan have examined these videos and established that while a part of them have been edited, some recordings are, obviously, genuine.
The announcement came in a joint briefing held on October 6 by the Prosecutor General’s office with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on the crimes committed by Armenian soldiers and members of the illegal Armenian forces against Azerbaijan from 1988 up to today, reports Caliber.Az.
“The investigation has concluded that during the battles for the liberation of the occupied Zangilan District, two Azerbaijani soldiers were seen mutilating the corpses of killed Armenian soldiers and recording it on their mobile phones and sharing those videos.
Furthermore, two Azerbaijani soldiers have desecrated Armenian graves in the village of Madatli in the Khojavand District, knocking down gravestones and filming this on their mobile phones, which were subsequently also shared. Those people were arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of a military court, following which they were sentenced to prison.
In the meanwhile, the Armenian side is issuing no statements regarding similar videos showing military crimes committed against Azerbaijani servicemen. This proves that, in contrast to Azerbaijan, the Armenian law enforcement agencies are not investigating such crimes and that the Armenian leadership does not have the political will to take the necessary steps for the punishment of the guilty parties”, " the Office said at the briefing.
The Prosecutor General’s Office also appealed to international organizations to call on Armenian law enforcement agencies to investigate the acts of mistreatment of Azerbaijani servicemen's corpses by Armenians, which are being confirmed by the corresponding photo- and video materials, as well as the inhumane treatment of Azerbaijani detainees, the killings of and assaults on Azerbaijani civilians, and appealed to Armenia to fulfill the international promise it has made and carry out a transparent and just investigation into the facts of these crimes.
