France fails to get rid of colonial ambitions Statement by Western Azerbaijan Community
The Western Azerbaijan Community has said that France still cannot get rid of colonial ambitions and the “Crusader mentality.”
The community recalled that a group of French public figures and mayors made an absurd appeal in protest against the decision to hold the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan in 2024. This once again demonstrates the racist, Islamophobic and Azerbaijanophobic sentiments of French society, the community said in a statement Report informs.
Among those who signed the racist appeal are such “familiar” people as Anne Hidalgo, Valerie Pécresse, Bruno Retailleau.
Against the backdrop of the agreements reached by Azerbaijan and Armenia during direct negotiations on December 7, 2023, including Armenia’s support for Azerbaijan’s candidacy in COP29, the signing of such an appeal by French mayors is a political clowning.
To recap, the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia issued a joint statement on December 7. In one of the clauses, it was stated that as a manifestation of goodwill, Armenia withdraws its candidacy to host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and supports the candidacy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Within COP28 in Dubai, it was decided that COP29 will be held in Baku.
