France recalls its ambassador to Azerbaijan
France has made a decision to recall its ambassador to Azerbaijan for holding consultations.
Thus, the French side says that the ambassador was recalled due to the so-called "unilateral actions of Azerbaijan, damaging relations between the two countries", Trend reports citing a statement by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Relations.
“The French president received the ambassador on this occasion. He expressed regret over the actions of Azerbaijan and he would like the Azerbaijani side to clarify its intentions. France reminds about its support for the normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia by respecting international law and the territorial integrity of the two countries. This standardisation will benefit both countries and the region as a whole,” the ministry said.
Numerous agents of the French intelligence services were revealed in Azerbaijan as a result of the measures carried out by the Azerbaijani State Security Service in early December 2023. During a short period of time, dozens of French spies were revealed, some of them operated in Azerbaijan while others continued working secretly in various countries and authoritative international organisations.
