France's arms sale to Armenia amid peace talks with Azerbaijan raises tensions - ex-US diplomat

"As Baku and Yerevan are close to signing a peace treaty, the sale of arms by France to Armenia is a new provocative element in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."

Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media that James Warlick, former US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, said.

In his opinion, France could have made a deal with Armenia on arms supplies after signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

"It is unfortunate that as we get closer to a peace agreement, such a move confuses and further complicates negotiations," Warlick said.
