Georgia, Argentina, Italy condemn Azerbaijani embassy attack in Iran

The Georgian Foreign Ministry and the embassies of Argentina and Italy have condemned a deadly terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran on January 27.

“Any act of violence against a diplomatic mission is completely unacceptable. We offer condolences to the family of the victim of the tragedy,” Report informs, citing the Georgian Foreign Ministry’s statement.

Moreover, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze also expressed condolences in connection with the armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, which resulted in the death of security officer.

“On behalf of the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan, I express my deep condolences to the families and friends of the head of the security service of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran, who died as a result of an armed attack on the diplomatic mission. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We strongly condemn the attack on the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan and at this difficult moment express our support to the fraternal people of Azerbaijan,” the embassy told Caliber.Az.

The embassy of Argentina has also expressed condolences in connection with the armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran.

“We express condolences to the deceased's family as a result of the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran,” Caliber.Az reports citing the embassy’s report on Facebook.

Moreover, the Italian embassy in Azerbaijan also expressed admiration for the prompt and courageous reaction of the security personnel of the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran.

“The Italian embassy expresses deep indignation at the cowardly attack in Tehran and extends sincere condolences to the family of the fallen. While wishing the injured a speedy recovery, we express admiration for the prompt and courageous reaction of the security personnel,” Caliber.Az reports citing the embassy’s report on Twitter.

Meanwhile, GUAM [Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova] regional alliance demanded to bring to justice the perpetrators of the terrorist attack.

"We express our deep condolences to the family of the deceased, the embassy staff and Azerbaijan, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The GUAM Secretariat expresses its firm solidarity with the Republic of Azerbaijan, demanding that the perpetrators of this insidious, cowardly terrorist act and their sponsors be brought to justice," APA cites GUAM statement as saying.

An armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran was committed on January 27 morning. The attacker broke through to the security post of the diplomatic mission and killed the head of the security service by using a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Two embassy security guards were also injured while repelling the attack. Their health condition is satisfactory. The attacker on the Azerbaijani embassy was detained.
