Georgia denies planned visit by Israeli lawmakers
The Georgian Foreign Ministry confirmed that a visit by members of Israel’s Knesset to Georgia was not scheduled.
According to the ministry’s statement, the Israeli Embassy in Georgia did not provide any confirmation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding a visit by Knesset members to Georgia, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
The ministry added that the spread of such disinformation damages Georgia’s image and harms relations between Georgia and Israel.
Israeli national news outlets reported that Knesset members cancelled their planned trip to Georgia due to indications of a possible terrorist threat, with statements attributed to the Knesset Guard that a security assessment had prompted the decision.
The planned trip was tied to an “Israeli Week” conference organised to promote business and diplomatic ties between Israel and Georgia, involving legislators and business figures from both countries.
Georgia’s State Security Service publicly refuted the reported terrorist threat, stating that neither Georgian nor Israeli intelligence services had information about such a threat and calling the reports “incorrect information” circulated by the media without verification.
