Georgia ready to mediate talks between Azerbaijan, Armenia
Georgia is ready to be a mediator between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The statement came from the country;'s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during his speech at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Georgian media reports, according to Report.
“In July of this year, we held fruitful talks in Tbilisi between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are ready to see ourselves as the centre of dialogue for the establishment of much-needed peace and stability in our region," he said.
To this end, Georgia is promoting the peaceful neighbourhood initiative, in which all three states of the South Caucasus participate, Garibashvili noted, adding it does not replace, contradict or oppose other formats of cooperation.
"Instead, Georgia hopes to become an honest mediator that will help normalize regional relations,” he said.
