Georgia’s president applauds Trump's peace efforts between Baku, Yerevan VIDEO
In a speech delivered during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili applauded US President Donald Trump’s peace initiative between Baku and Yerevan.
The Georgian president welcomed Trump’s diplomatic efforts in the South Caucasus, specifically his peace initiative between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as his attempts to bring an end to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
Kavelashvili also underscored Georgia’s commitment to regional peace, dialogue among civilizations, and its growing strategic significance as a connector between East and West.
“As we deeply understand the importance of peace, Georgia contributes to the transformation of the South Caucasus and strives to turn it from a zone of conflicts into a space of dialogue among civilizations and economic prosperity,” President Kavelashvili stated.
Reaffirming Georgia’s historic role as a crossroads of civilizations, Kavelashvili noted, “For centuries, our country has been a crossroads of civilizations and a space for dialogue among diverse cultures. Today, Georgia is reclaiming its historical role.”
Highlighting Georgia’s foreign policy and regional engagement, the president emphasized the country’s deepening ties with South Caucasus and Central Asian nations, its existing partnerships with the European Union, and its central position within the Middle Corridor — the transcontinental trade and transport route linking China to Europe via Central Asia and the Caucasus.
“Georgia is the shortest connecting route and a natural bridge between Europe and Asia, the West and the East. Thanks to our geographical location and pragmatic foreign policy, Georgia is emerging as a multidimensional and multifunctional regional hub, both in terms of trade and energy transit,” Kavelashvili said.
He further stressed Georgia’s active role in the development of the Middle Corridor, calling it a vital component of Eurasian connectivity.
“Georgia makes a significant contribution to the development of the Middle Corridor strategic route and does everything to ensure that the corridor becomes the safest, most reliable and most stable connecting route between East and West,” he added.
