Georgian president voices optimism on Armenia–Azerbaijan peace agreement
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has met with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and voiced optimism about the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The two sides discussed existing political, economic, cultural and educational ties, as well as prospects for further bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Georgia welcomed the peace arrangement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“We hope that in the near future Armenia and Azerbaijan will finally sign a peace agreement, thereby elevating the positive development dynamic in the South Caucasus and the region’s attractiveness to a fundamentally new level. Georgia unequivocally supports peace and stability in the South Caucasus and stands ready to continue contributing accordingly,” Kavelashvili said.
The President of Georgia thanked Armenia’s foreign minister for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that Tbilisi likewise offers its unconditional support for Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace.
