German Bundestag member: Azerbaijan exemplifies religious harmony Photo
Armin Laschet, a prominent member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and former Premier of North Rhine-Westphalia, has praised Azerbaijan for fostering peaceful coexistence between Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
Laschet, who was part of a German delegation led by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, made the remarks on social media platform X following his visit to the country, Caliber.

During a meeting between Steinmeier and representatives of various religious communities, Azerbaijan's Chief Rabbi Shneor Segal emphasised that the country has never witnessed antisemitism.
Laschet further highlighted that, despite external pressures, Azerbaijan continues to support both its Jewish and Christian communities.
Laschet, who served as the Premier of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2017 to 2021, and as the leader of the CDU from January 2021 to January 2022, is considered one of the leading candidates for the position of Germany's Minister for Foreign Affairs.
