German embassy condemns Iranian drone attacks on Nakhchivan
The German Embassy in Azerbaijan has strongly condemned the drone strikes carried out by Iran against the country’s Nakhchivan exclave.
According to a statement released by the embassy, Germany denounced the attacks and expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan and those affected by the incident.
“We firmly condemn the Iranian drone strikes today in Nakhchivan and any actions that threaten Azerbaijan’s security. We stand in solidarity with Azerbaijan and those affected. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and further developments,” the statement said.
Earlier on March 5, drones launched from Iranian territory struck targets in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. One of the drones hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school building in the village of Shakarabad. Four civilians were injured as a result of the attack on the airport.
Following the incident, the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, was summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry. Azerbaijani authorities stated that the country reserves the right to respond to the attack.
