On April 2, during his official visit to Azerbaijan, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender, visited the Alley of Martyrs in Baku to honour the memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity.
President Steinmeier laid a wreath at the "Eternal Flame" monument, a solemn tribute to the fallen heroes. This act was a mark of respect for the Azerbaijani soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the pursuit of the nation's sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Following the commemoration, the German delegation was briefed on the historical significance of the Alley of Martyrs, which serves as a national symbol of sacrifice and resilience. The distinguished guests were also given insights into the city's ongoing urban development projects, including landscaping and construction efforts aimed at enhancing Baku’s infrastructure.
