Germany condemns Iran’s drone attacks on Azerbaijan, affirms solidarity

German Foreign Minister Johann David Wadephul expressed strong concern over Iran’s recent drone attacks on Azerbaijan during a phone call with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on March 9.

According to a statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, the ministers discussed the current security situation in the region and the broader implications of rising tensions in the Middle East for regional and global security.

Minister Wadephul condemned the attacks and reaffirmed Germany’s solidarity with Azerbaijan. He also thanked the Azerbaijani authorities for their assistance in evacuating German citizens from Iran.

The discussion further covered the prospects for deepening Azerbaijan–Germany bilateral relations and other regional matters of mutual interest.
