Germany unveils timeframe for producing first missiles for Patriot air defence system
Managing director of the MBDA Deutschland GmbH Thomas Gottschild has said that the first missiles for Patriot air defence systems will be produced in Germany within the next three years.
MBDA signed a 10-year contract with the US Raytheon company to produce 1,000 Patriot missiles, which will be produced in Schrobenhausen city, Gottschild said in an interview with Augsburger Allgemeine.
“We will supply the first Patriot missiles within three years,” he noted.
Germany had two Patriot systems before Russia’s “special operation” in Ukraine. Germany supplied both complexes along with the existing missiles to Kyiv.
Patriot is an air defence system consisting of radars, command-and-control technology and multiple interceptors that work together to detect, identify and defeat cruise missiles, drones, advanced aircraft and other airborne threats.
