Greek ambassador: Azerbaijan plays decisive role in Europe's energy supply
A series of meetings between the Foreign and Energy Ministers at the opening ceremony of the IGB (Greek-Bulgarian Interconnector) last October, especially between President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Mitsotakis, gave a strong impetus to the Greek-Azerbaijani bilateral relations once again.
The Greek Ambassador Christos Kapodistrias made the statement while speaking at the event on the occasion of the National Day of Greece in Baku, APA reports.
According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan is rightly recognized by the European Union as a strategic partner in the energy sector: "The precious natural gas resources of the generous Caspian Sea, located a few meters from where we stand, ensure and further enhance Azerbaijan's decisive role as a reliable energy partner in Europe and beyond through the Southern Gas Corridor.
Greece is proud to be an important partner in this project, as well as to share its benefits with neighbouring countries.
In this context, I would like to thank the Public Gas Corporation of Greece for its meaningful support of strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, as well as for its important message."
