GUAM chairmanship to pass to Azerbaijan from January 1
In 2024, the presidency of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) will pass from Ukraine to Azerbaijan.
The priorities of Ukraine's presidency in 2023 included sovereignty and territorial integrity of GUAM member states, creation of new economic opportunities and development of trade between European and Asian markets, achievement of a fully functioning free trade zone, interaction with the European Commission on the GUAM transport corridor, simplification of customs procedures and an integrated approach to documentation for transportation within the GUAM transport corridor, the GUAM Council of National Coordinators told Azertag.
During Azerbaijan's chairmanship in 2020, energy security, transportation, and trade turnover were the priority areas.
Azerbaijan will chair GUAM from January 1.
