Haber Global exposes media disinformation campaign targeting Azerbaijan VIDEO
Turkish news channel Haber Global has released a video report accusing several media outlets of deliberately spreading false information aimed at discrediting Azerbaijan and misrepresenting its stance on key international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the Eurovision Song Contest.
The report, titled “Smear Campaign Against Azerbaijan! Baku Responds to Baseless Slanders!”, claims that certain broadcasters have prioritised misinformation over factual reporting, ignoring Azerbaijan’s consistent support for Palestine and attempting to drive a wedge between Baku and Ankara, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
According to Haber Global, one of the false narratives pushed by these outlets was that Azerbaijan would withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel was not allowed to participate. The report asserts that this claim is entirely unfounded and was deliberately circulated to damage the close ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The video further emphasises that Azerbaijan has a long-standing and clear position in support of Palestinian statehood, advocating for East Jerusalem as its capital. It criticises the continued disregard of President Ilham Aliyev’s repeated expressions of solidarity with the Palestinian people across various international platforms.
Haber Global also draws attention to the timing of the disinformation campaign, noting that it coincided with a diplomatic visit by the presidents of Türkiye and Azerbaijan to the United States. The report suggests that such smear efforts have occurred before, but underscores that Azerbaijan has consistently countered them with clear and immediate responses.
