Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan opened in Azerbaijan's Ganja PHOTO

An official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in Ganja, one of the ancient cities of Azerbaijan and the second largest city after Baku, was held on April 19, Trend reports.

The event was attended by the head of the executive authority of Ganja city N. Bayramov, heads of the Turkish and Georgian consulates in Ganja, compatriots, representatives of the business community, representatives of science and other honored guests. The event was widely covered by a number of mass media of Azerbaijan.

Speakers at the conference noted that the event creates an excellent opportunity for further expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial and partnership relations between our brotherly countries and peoples.

The Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan is involved in the process of protecting the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens, developing economic cooperation, attracting Azerbaijani investments and tourists to Uzbekistan, promoting cultural and humanitarian ties in its area.

This event recorded two historical events in the annals of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. That is, the honorary consulate of Uzbekistan for the first time started its activity in Azerbaijan, and the first honorary consular office in the history of Uzbekistan was opened by Uzbekistan in the city of Ganja.

By mutual decision of the leaders of the two countries, Kanan Jalilov was appointed Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan.
