Hungarian government praises Azerbaijan-Armenia peace deal as key to regional stability PHOTO

Hungary has welcomed the agreement on the text of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The statement was made by Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State for International Communications and Relations at the Cabinet Office of Hungarian Prime Minister, on his page on social network X, Caliber.Az reports.

“A breakthrough in the Caucasus: Azerbaijan and Armenia have reached an agreement on the text of a peace deal, bringing their long-standing conflict closer to resolution, announced Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó,” Kovács wrote.

The government spokesperson cited the foreign minister’s words as saying that “while this is not the end of the peace process, it is a major step toward restoring stability and a peaceful life for the people of the region.”

“Hungary welcomes this development and hopes that the agreement will soon be followed by a lasting peace settlement,” Kovács added.

On March 13, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the completion of negotiations on the text of the draft Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Baku and Yerevan.

On the Armenian side, the Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Armenia had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two remaining disputed issues. This development signals that the peace agreement is now ready for formal signing.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also confirmed that both countries had agreed on the terms of the draft treaty and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing peace and stability efforts in the South Caucasus.
