Hungarian PM: Europe should develop new strategy towards Russia
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that the civilisational differences between Russia and Europe should not lead to a refusal of contacts.
“Russia ‘belongs to a different form of civilisation’ and cannot be compared with the EU. This is a different country historically, politically and geographically. The important question is whether our differences are a reason for non-cooperation. My answer is no,” Orban told the French Le Point magazine.
He noted that “most of the world is different from Europe” and, if you follow this logic, then Europe should refuse to cooperate with “two-thirds” of countries.
Orban stood for rational discussions about relations with Russia because “it is strong” saying that Europe should develop a plan B and a new strategy towards the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Orban revealed the main reason why Ukraine cannot join the EU. The politician stressed that the EU is not ready to accept Ukraine into the union because it is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
