ICDO expresses solidarity with Azerbaijan following drone attacks
The Permanent Secretariat of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) has expressed full solidarity with Azerbaijan following recent attacks on its territory.
In an official statement, the ICDO highlighted its concern for the civilian population and reaffirmed the importance of Azerbaijan’s contributions to regional civil protection efforts.
“In light of the recent attacks affecting ICDO Member State, The Republic of Azerbaijan, the International Civil Defence Organization expresses its deep concern and full solidarity with the Government and people of Azerbaijan,” the statement read.
The organization emphasised that “the protection of civilian populations and essential services must remain an unconditional priority under all circumstances, and that no civilian should ever become a victim of instability or violence.”
The ICDO also praised Azerbaijan’s role in strengthening regional civil protection networks, stating, “As a nation that has played a valuable role in the ICDO's ongoing efforts, particularly through its commitment to strengthening regional civil protection networks, we emphasize the importance of Azerbaijan's contributions.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the organization’s commitment to cooperation and preparedness: “Solidarity, professional cooperation and coordinated action are essential to enhancing preparedness, resilience and effective response among Member States. The International Civil Defence Organization also acknowledges the constructive role of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of ICDO and reiterates the importance of continued cooperation in advancing regional and international civil protection efforts.”
