ICRC personnel visit Karabakh separatists in Baku pre-trial detention centre
In May of this year, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) staff conducted another visit to individuals of Armenian origin, as notified by the Azerbaijani authorities.
Ilaha Huseynova, the head of the public relations department at the ICRC office in Azerbaijan, confirmed this in response to an inquiry from APA.
"Individual meetings were conducted with the detainees, and arrangements were made for them to communicate with their families. In line with its mandate, the ICRC evaluates the treatment of detainees, and their detention conditions, and facilitates communication with their families during visits. Observations and recommendations regarding visits are provided exclusively to the detaining party, in accordance with ICRC procedures," the message reads.
