International Astronautical Federation elects new VP
Chairman of the Board of the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos) Samaddin Asadov has been elected Vice President of the International Astronautical Federation.
The decision was made during the General Assembly meeting as part of the Milan Congress. Asadov's candidacy received strong support from members of the Federation's bureau and committee, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azercosmos.
The bureau serves as the main executive body of the International Astronautical Federation. As vice president, Asadov will preside over plenary sessions of the General Assembly, congresses, symposia, and other Federation meetings, as well as make recommendations to space agencies and oversee the preparation of the annual financial report.
Established in 1951, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is the leading global organisation for space advocacy, comprising 513 members from 77 countries, including prominent space agencies, companies, research institutions, universities, societies, associations, institutes, and museums around the world.
With its motto “Connecting @ll Space People” and the theme “A space-faring world cooperating for the benefit of humanity,” the Federation promotes the advancement of space knowledge and encourages global collaboration in the development and application of space technologies.
