International urban planning award established at WUF13 in Baku
The Azerbaijani government and the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) have established a new international urban planning award on the sidelines of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, has announced.
It said the Baku Urban Award has been launched to promote sustainable urban development and affordable housing, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The award is designed as a global platform to promote practical solutions in urban planning, scientific approaches, and their integration into policymaking.
Projects will be evaluated by an independent international jury, and the initiative is expected to become one of the key long-term outcomes of WUF13.
The establishment of the Baku Urban Award reflects Azerbaijan’s long-term cooperation with UN-Habitat, including the hosting of WUF13, COP29, and broader international urban development initiatives.
