Iran arrests suspected Mossad agent posing as protester in Tehran
Iranian security forces have apprehended an individual reportedly affiliated with Mossad who was operating under the cover of participating in riots and moving secretly among protesters in Tehran.
In his statements, the detainee detailed the recruitment, training, and communication methods used by Mossad, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tasnim news agency.
He explained that targets were selected via social media platforms like Instagram and Telegram, based on their posts and interactions, and were promised support for carrying out assigned tasks. From the beginning, he was given clear instructions on what to do and what to avoid.
Regarding the missions assigned, the detainee said he was initially instructed to visit private homes but was soon redirected to operate in marketplaces.
He added that the nature of his assignments evolved over time and became entirely payment-driven, with all procedures and instructions delivered through a single mobile device.
Iran and Israel have been engaged in a deepening shadow conflict for years over Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence, with both sides using covert operations, cyber actions, and proxy forces to undermine each other’s security interests.
In June 2025, this rivalry erupted into a confrontation often referred to as the Twelve‑Day War, marked by intensive Israeli air and covert strikes on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure and massive Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory, resulting in significant military and civilian casualties on both sides.
The conflict exposed weaknesses in Iran’s conventional defence systems and highlighted the role of intelligence services and advanced military technology in modern warfare, intensifying regional fears of further escalation and prompting diplomatic efforts to de‑escalate.
