Iran backs South Caucasus peace, infrastructure projects
Iran continues to emphasize its commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus, while also supporting practical projects that strengthen regional connectivity.
During a briefing in Baku, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh highlighted Tehran’s ongoing efforts to promote economic ties between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“We advocate for peace and security in the South Caucasus,” he stated, noting that Iran supports all initiatives aimed at fostering stability in the region.
Jalalzadeh also provided an update on a key infrastructure project, the Aghband bridge, which is set to enhance transport links in the area. He said the bridge will be commissioned ahead of the Novruz holiday. Work is currently underway on a four-lane road leading to the bridge, and the Azerbaijani side is closely monitoring progress. “The Aghband Bridge will be put into operation ahead of the Novruz holiday,” he confirmed.
