Iran condemns Trump’s decision to close Venezuelan airspace
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to close Venezuela’s airspace, calling it a “blatant violation” of international law, including rules governing international air transport, according to a statement posted on the ministry’s Telegram channel.
In the post, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described Trump’s action as arbitrary and an unprecedented threat to the safety of international aviation, Caliber.Az reports.
He warned that such measures pose a danger to the rule of law and global security.
On November 29, Trump posted on Truth Social from Mar-a-Lago, warning: "To all airlines, pilots, drug traffickers and human traffickers, please keep in mind that the AIRSPACE OVER AND AROUND VENEZUELA IS CLOSED." This followed a week of escalating rhetoric, including Trump's Thanksgiving address to troops hinting at "land operations" against Venezuelan drug networks.
