Iran's response to Haniyeh's assassination imminent Mahmoud Abbas
Iran may soon decide on its response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's politburo, with a decision potentially coming within hours. However, Palestine remains adamant in its desire to avoid war.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed this sentiment in an interview with TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by Caliber.Az via TASS.
"A decision could be made within the next few days or even the next few hours," Abbas stated. "First and foremost, we as Palestinians are against war. On October 7, 2023, we officially declared that we oppose war and the killing of civilians, women, and children. While we cannot yet predict what will happen, we can hope for no escalation and no war, the consequences of which would be difficult to assess."
