Iran speaker accuses rivals of undermining US negotiations
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has sharply criticised opponents of potential negotiations with the United States during a meeting with advisers, Iran International reports.
Ghalibaf, who also led Iran’s team in the latest talks with Washington, reportedly described several hardline figures—including Saeed Jalili and MP Amirhossein Sabeti—as extremist, militia-like actors who would “destroy Iran.”
He said this group was using state television and mobilising hardline supporters in an effort to intensify opposition to negotiations and any potential agreement with the United States.
Ghalibaf also expressed concern about the possibility of being removed from his position as parliament speaker, as well as fears that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi could be pushed out of office.
