Iranian ammunition spotted again in Ukraine Shells manufactured in 2023
Iranian artillery munitions have been spotted in the hands of Ukraine’s servicemen: a new photo of shells from Iran was uploaded by Ukraine Weapons Tracker.
In the photo is a 122-mm high-explosive munition OF-462, and most interestingly, according to the marking, it belongs to the first batch of munitions manufactured in 2023, and this is the first time that exactly this year's munitions have been spotted in Ukraine, Defense Express reports.
In general, it is noted that for the first time, Iranian ammunition in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine was spotted back in September 2022, and it was also OF-462 artillery ammunition, and in total we can count at least seven cases of the appearance of specifically Iranian ammunition in hands of the AFU.
Defense Express reminds that in March 2023, Iranian 80-mm S-8OF air-to-air missiles were spotted, which Ukraine’s military is launching from"Afghan" Mi-17 helicopters.
One of the likely options for how Iranian projectiles end up in Ukraine is the ammunition that was intercepted by the US Navy and which is quickly transferred to Ukraine as "surplus military property".
