Iranian envoy: Tehran has not officially confirmed drone strike on Nakhchivan
The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu, has confirmed that Iran has not officially acknowledged the recent drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
According to Demirchilu, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs notified him of the incident on March 5. He immediately contacted Tehran to obtain preliminary information and reported the matter back to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Demirchilu told Baku TV, as reported by Report News Agency.
“I immediately contacted Tehran, received initial information, and reported to the Foreign Ministry,” he said.
According to Mojtaba Demirchilu, the drone attack has not been officially acknowledged by the Iranian side.
“There are many suspicious aspects here. You know that yesterday evening the heads of our foreign ministries (Jeyhun Bayramov and Abbas Araghchi) held a phone conversation on this matter and agreed to clarify these suspicious points,” the diplomat noted.
