Iranian President receives Azerbaijani FM UPDATED/PHOTO

The press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has spread the information about the meeting between Azerbaijani Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.

During his official visit to Iran, Bayramov met President Raisi on July 4, according to APA.

The Iranian president recalled his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021. He conveyed sincere greetings to President Aliyev.

President Raisi said that the Iran-Azerbaijan relations have deep roots, and cultural and historical ties between the two countries have been stipulated by the will of Iranian and Azerbaijani peoples.

The Iranian president stressed the need to increase trade turnover for the further development of relations and noted that bilateral relations will contribute to regional cooperation.

In turn, Bayramov spoke about the historical, religious and cultural ties between the two countries and noted that the meetings of the presidents play an important role in the development of relations. In this regard, he stressed the importance of holding two meetings of the presidents within a short period of time.

The Azerbaijani minister noted that he had held useful talks with his counterpart in Iran in accordance with the reached agreements and the tasks set at the meeting of the presidents of the two countries in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Bayramov also spoke about joint projects being implemented between the two countries in the field of energy, transport and communication.

In this regard, the importance of creating new routes between the East Zangazur economic region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the territories liberated from occupation, was emphasised.

The current regional situation was also discussed at the meeting. The importance of ensuring regional peace and security, as well as cooperation among the regional countries in this sphere, was highlighted.

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi has received Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Ebrahim Raisi noted that Iran is interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan, according to APA.

He expressed hope that the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Iran would be a breakthrough in relations.
