Iraqi government thanks Azerbaijan

Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji has said that the Iraqi government has thanked Azerbaijan for the return of children from Azerbaijani families who took part in the hostilities as part of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organisation.

Al-Araji made these remarks during a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Baghdad Nasir Mammadov, Report informs citing the Iraqi News Agency.

During the meeting, the sides discussed bilateral relations and stressed the importance of developing joint cooperation in security.

Al-Araji noted that Iraq intends to strengthen ties with friendly countries.
