Israel, Azerbaijan to expand cooperation in energy, mine clearance

17 October 2025 15:01

Israel is considering the possibility of sharing its experience in mine clearance with Azerbaijan, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ronen Krausz told Trend.

“Last week, I visited Karabakh for the first time, where we were shown areas containing both active and neutralised mines. I witnessed the devastating impact mines have on the lives of local residents. These territories must be cleared and secured to prevent the deaths of innocent people. This is a serious issue that must be addressed. Within my authority as ambassador, I will try to find platforms for cooperation where Israel can share its expertise, since we also face mine-related problems in certain parts of our country and are actively working on demining and evacuation. I hope that in the future we can establish knowledge exchange and joint efforts to protect our citizens from this threat,” Krausz said.

The ambassador also highlighted the growing cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan in the energy sector.

“SOCAR has acquired a 10% stake in the Tamar project and will also participate in gas production in the Mediterranean Sea. I hope this cooperation will continue to expand and that the ties between Israel and Azerbaijan in the energy field will strengthen further,” he added.
