Italian FM thanks Azerbaijan for assistance in evacuating citizens

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani thanked Azerbaijan for assisting in the evacuation of Italian citizens through its territory amid rising Middle East tensions, in a phone call with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the call, the two discussed regional security issues, including the drone attacks carried out by Iran on Azerbaijani territory, according to the foreign ministry.

Bayramov emphasised that such attacks on Azerbaijan are unacceptable and that any actions targeting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity violate international law. He noted that these measures, which threaten civilians and infrastructure, pose a serious challenge to regional stability and security.

Tajani expressed concern over the situation and stressed the importance of restoring stability in the region, affirming Italy’s solidarity with Azerbaijan

The ministers discussed prospects for cooperation within the framework of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
