Italian military delegation explores Azerbaijan's top defence institutions PHOTO/VIDEO
A delegation led by Lieutenant General Stefano Mannino, President of the Centre for Higher Defence Studies at the Italian National Defence University, visited several key military educational institutions in Azerbaijan, including the National Defence University, the War Games Centre, the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute, the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military Lyceum, and a military unit of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces.
The visit, which aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in military education, began with a meeting at the National Defence University, where Major General Gunduz Abilov, the rector of the university, hailed the ongoing collaboration between Azerbaijan and Italy in this field, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
The delegation was briefed on the university's history, education system, and the process for electronic admissions to military educational institutions.
Following the briefing, the Italian delegation toured the War Games Centre, where they were introduced to its operational procedures and capabilities. The visitors then traveled to the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute and the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military Lyceum, where they engaged with cadets and examined the training facilities available to students.
At the military unit of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, the delegation was welcomed by Navy Commander Captain 1st Rank Shahin Mammadov. During their meeting, Captain Mammadov emphasized the strategic importance of Azerbaijan’s military cooperation with Italy. The delegation also had the opportunity to view various military assets in service with the unit and witness a live demonstration of training sessions conducted by Azerbaijan’s marine special forces.
