Italy safely evacuates 45 embassy staff from Iran via Azerbaijan

Forty-five personnel from Italy’s diplomatic mission in Iran were safely evacuated through the Astara State Border Crossing Point, local media reports.

The operation followed all necessary procedures, including thorough document checks and registration, with additional measures at the crossing to ensure secure passage for all evacuees. Once registration formalities were completed, the personnel were escorted to their designated destinations.

This evacuation comes amid ongoing military operations in Iran. Since the onset of hostilities—from 08:00 on February 28 to 16:00 on March 5—over 1,300 individuals have been evacuated via Azerbaijani territory.
