Jordan hails progress in Baku-Yerevan peace agreement

16 March 2025 09:30

Jordan welcomes the completion of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the text of the peace agreement, the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Jordanian Foreign Ministry welcomes the progress achieved in the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the way to signing an agreement that will end the long-standing conflict between the two countries,” the statement read, Caliber.Az reports, citing Jordan news outlets.

The ministry’s spokesperson Sufyan Qudah emphasized the Kingdom's support for all efforts aimed at resolving disputes through peaceful means that contribute to strengthening regional and international security, the statement said.

This statement follows the announcement on March 13 by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, which reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to continuing dialogue with Armenia after successfully completing negotiations on the draft Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations.

On the Armenian side, the Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Armenia had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two remaining disputed issues. This development signals that the peace agreement is now ready for formal signing.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also confirmed that both countries had agreed on the terms of the draft treaty and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing peace and stability efforts in the South Caucasus.
