Jordan's FM voices support for Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal
Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, said that the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan would represent an important step with regional significance.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Baku alongside Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, Safadi said Jordan supported the prospective agreement, local media reports.
"The signing of a peace agreement has regional significance," he said.
Safadi also called for closer cooperation between Jordan and Azerbaijan in trade, tourism and business, saying Amman highly valued its longstanding historical ties with Baku.
He said bilateral relations were already at a high level but could be expanded further across a range of sectors, adding that Jordan would continue its regular dialogue with Azerbaijan.
Safadi also said that the mutual abolition of visa requirements could provide a significant boost to the tourism and business sectors in both countries.
