Kazakh PM vows closer cooperation with Russia across all sectors
Kazakhstan is prepared to enhance its relations with Russia across all sectors, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"An important task is to ensure full practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. The Government of Kazakhstan is ready to work closely together and develop full-scale cooperation in all areas," Bektenov emphasized, as quoted by the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He further noted that bilateral cooperation has been elevated to a new level, thanks to the joint efforts of Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin. "Thanks to the joint efforts of the heads of state, our bilateral cooperation has been brought to a qualitatively new level," he added.
Mishustin, for his part, reaffirmed Kazakhstan's importance to Russia, calling it a "strategic partner and ally." He highlighted that significant agreements on the further development of bilateral relations were reached during President Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan. "The task of the governments is to ensure the clear implementation of those agreements reached by our leaders," Mishustin said.
Mishustin is currently in Kazakhstan for a working visit, where he is meeting with the country's leadership in Astana. Later in the day, he will head to Alma-Ata for a scheduled meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
Additionally, on January 31, Mishustin is set to participate in the "Digital Almaty 2025" technological forum.
Russia remains one of Kazakhstan's top trading partners, with mutual trade totalling $24.2 billion in the first 11 months of the previous year. To achieve the goal of raising trade turnover to $30 billion, expanding the range of goods supplied is seen as crucial.
