Kazakhstan ready to share AI, digitalisation experience at WUF13, PM says
Kazakhstan is ready to share its experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation through international cooperation platforms, Olzhas Bektenov, Kazakh Prime Minister, has stated during the Leaders’ Statement session within the framework of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He said one of Kazakhstan’s most ambitious initiatives is the development of the city of Alatau in the Almaty region as a centre of advanced urban growth, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He noted that Kazakhstan adopted an Artificial Intelligence Law last year, establishing a legal framework for the safe, transparent and human-centred use of AI technologies.
“We have declared 2026 the Year of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence to emphasise our strategic focus on technological transformation and the development and management of modern cities. Kazakhstan is ready to share its experience in AI and digitalisation through international cooperation platforms, in particular through the recently established ESCAP Digital Solutions Centre for sustainable development of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region in Almaty,” he added.
Bektenov noted that Kazakhstan’s new Constitution, recently adopted through a national referendum, elevates environmental protection to the level of a fundamental state value.
“Today, in the context of climate change and growing scarcity, sustainable water resource management is becoming an integral component of sustainable urban development. In this context, we are promoting the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to establish an international water organisation under the auspices of the United Nations,” the Prime Minister emphasised.
