Kazakhstan’s Foreign Trade Chamber rep highlights transport cooperation in Turkic states

14 February 2025 14:12

Chairman of Board of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Trade Chamber Murat Karimsakov has said that the development of transport and logistics cooperation is a priority area for collaboration among the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States.

Karimsakov made these remarks during the meeting titled "Turkic Investment Fund and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of the Turkic World: An Informational Session for Business Leaders and B2B", Caliber.Az reports via local media.

He noted that in terms of global economic challenges, business plays a key role in ensuring the sustainable development of the economies of the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States.

"Today, more than ever, it is crucial to establish effective mechanisms for trade and economic interaction, strengthen investment cooperation, and consolidate business efforts within the Organisation of Turkic States. This will lay a solid foundation for the sustainable growth and prosperity of our economies," he noted.

Karimsakov stressed the importance of focusing on the development of transport and logistics cooperation, e-commerce, infrastructure modernisation, and deepening cooperation in technological sectors. Additionally, promising areas for collaboration include the advanced processing of agricultural products, as well as the petrochemical and gas chemical industries.

"It is crucial to create all the necessary conditions to attract investments and foster a favorable investment climate. One of the key tasks of the Turkic Council is the development of high-tech industries, stimulating innovation, and implementing advanced technologies. In this regard, the Turkic Investment Fund will play an important role, serving as a financial tool to support strategic initiatives and projects," he said.

Karimsakov noted that the Turkic-speaking countries possess significant economic, geographic, and demographic potential, which could become a powerful driver for the entire region's development.

"Collaborative efforts to strengthen trade ties, develop transport and logistics infrastructure, facilitate technological exchange, and enhance business cooperation will create new growth opportunities and ensure the sustainable development of our countries’ economies," he concluded.

During the same event, Honorary President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Mustafa Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu proposed removing trade barriers among the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States.

He noted that eliminating these barriers would accelerate the development of economic ties among the countries. While the countries are already working in this direction, he emphasised that the process must be expedited to foster greater trade.

Hisarcıklıoğlu also highlighted the importance of efficiently utilizing Trans-Caspian routes, expanding the capabilities of the TANAP gas pipeline, and organizing the supply of Turkmen gas to Europe.

Moreover, he urged the adaptation of the educational systems in Turkic-speaking countries to meet the needs of entrepreneurship and called for increased support for startups and blockchain projects.
