Kazakhstan's Independence Day marked in Baku PHOTO

The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan hosted a meeting dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by statesmen, officials, members of the Azerbaijani parliament, ambassadors of foreign states and representatives of international organisations, well-known figures of science, culture and art, experts of leading think tanks, media representatives, Kazakhs living in Azerbaijan, per Report.

In his speech, Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel dwelt on the main achievements during the period of independence. The diplomat paid special attention to the successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the political, economic, transport, logistics and defence spheres. He stressed that the two countries are currently implementing such major projects of regional importance as the development of transport and logistics potential of the Middle Corridor, the transportation of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan, laying of a fibre-optic communication line along the Caspian Sea bed. In addition, the possibility of exporting electricity from Kazakhstan to Europe via Azerbaijan is being discussed.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov congratulated Kazakhstan on its Independence Day and summarised the main results of bilateral cooperation in 2023. Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Farid Jafarov noted the success of the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan recently held in the Azerbaijani capital.

The attendees also congratulated the newly appointed President of the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage Aktota Raimkulova on assuming office and thanked the previous President Gunay Efendiyeva for her work.

A thematic photo exhibition dedicated to Kazakhstan was organised as part of the event. Kazakh national cuisine was offered to the guests.
